I was wanting to plant a flowering vine on the side of my run. Which ones aren't poisonous to chickens because they will eat some here and there.

I already have 2 roses and some marigolds planted in the flower box my husband made in front. I live in northern Nevada so its hot and dry in the summer and cold and snow in the winter. High sierra desert, so they have to be hardy and doesn't require water everyday. TIA

It’s not flowering but ornamental grape vines are awesome, the changing leaf colours are as good as flowers, they are fast growing and provide good shade in summer, but also drop all their leaves to allow the sun in winter (and allows an easy time to prune). The leaves are also juicy and edible, to chickens and us!
How are they with needing water, heat and snow?

Here in coastal southern Australia (hot dry summers, frosty winters) they do extremely well. Very little water requirements (the labels say they only need water to get them started) and completely frost tolerant because they have no foliage during winter. The only reason I’ve seen a vine struggle is due to over-grazing by possums, or extremely hot, strong winds which can burn the leaves a little. Some liquid fertiliser during the growing months is recommended (I never have). I’m planting one on my chook pen this week

I don't know how long your growing season is there, but nasturtiums are great and will vine if the season is long enough. And my chickens at least, like them :)

Are morning glories toxic? they would make a very pretty covering
Don't know about that, but I was going to suggest honeysuckle 'til I discovered it's toxic to chickens. Although, chickens must be sharp enough not to eat it, 'cause it's prolific here & my chickens have unlimited access to it when I turn them out.

Most aren't, although there is some concern about seeds that appears to be overblown. Apparently the substance in the seeds is in such small amounts that it is unlikely to cause any issues. It can be invasive though.

I have morning glory growing into my chicken yard. It rambles over the fence from my neighbor's yard and the chickens eat every leaf they can reach. The kind I have looks like this (pic is not mine):

GREAT!!!! thank you, I wanted to add some to the sunny side of the run during the summer for shade. My MIL had them so it makes the hubby happy to see them. Reminds him of her, I'm planting the red ones. Might attract a few hummers too :celebrate
