Hi Guys :)

I'm trying to decide on an incubator that is preferably fully automatic. As I don't need more than 4 eggs a day from my chickens because I can't eat that much xD, I was deciding on a small incubator for 12 eggs maximum. I looked at the Brinsea Mini Advance EX, but as I'm in Australia, sourcing a Brinsea will be a little bit difficult ;P

Thanks guys

Hi Peashooter, I just bought an Rcom 20, and so far it is great! Still on day 10, and I have 12 wiggling embryos out of 12 eggs. Auto everything, just top up water periodically. Will let you know how the hatch goes...

I looked at the R-Com 20, and it looks great! I forgot to mention that my budget at this time for an incubator is around $800 AUD including eggs from a local source.

If you can I HIGHLY recommend brinsea. I can see if theres a seller in your country by calling them. It is worth it and Brinsea offers a free two year warrenty with purchase. Weve used the mini four times with 100% hatch rate. We just bought the Octogon 20 and were trying it with 25 eggs, mostly bantams with large fowl.

Thanks Guys, I don't know if there is a distributor for Brinsea in Australia because they won't answer my emails :( Anyways, I have heard only good things with the Brinsea's. Is the Brinsea Mini easy to clean? Because my last incubator was a nightmare to clean xD.

My Rcom was $550, bought in Vic. Where abouts in oz are you from and what kind of eggs are you after? Lots of different purebreds available from about $30 - $60 per dozen, with post usually extra. Have heard lots of good things about the brinsea, but to sure where you'd get it...

Hi Pazzwegian, I'm in Canberra and I'm after any breed of chicken that are good layers. I used to have ISA chickens, but I'd like something that looks nice as well as being good layers ;P I have found a person on Ebay that sells Brinsea products for a reasonable price. The same person also sells the 240 volt power adapters needed for Australia.

I have the Janoel JN12 incubator.

At the moment on day eleven and five (Staggered hatch) I have five out of five fertile eggs definitely developing, and on my first hatch!
I'm in Australia too, I ordered the incubator from that link at $106. It doesn't have all the features it lists, but it has VERY accurate temperature, unless I take the lid off, it is always 37.9 degrees celsius. Humidity is easy to control, auto turning, and has a great fan. Also bigger than it looks!

Hmmmm, all the Australian distributors for Brinsea are extremely expensive, $600 Australian Dollars for a Brinsea Mini Advance EX. I can buy from the US and use a service like shipitto to get it here though... My last incubator was a Janoel, and to be honest, I didn't really like that incubator, it kept the temperature steady, but the humidity was very hard to maintain. One minute it would be 50% and the next it would be 80%! I suppose that's why out of 12 eggs I only had 4 hatch...
