Looking for a new incubator to use in classroom. I’ve been using a Hova Bator Genesis 1588. I love the reliability and size but hate that the styrofoam is difficult to keep clean. I’ve been considering a dome style table top incubator but need something under $100 but also holds temps reliably. I don’t want to disappoint the kids with a poor hatch rate. What can you recommend?

If you are in the US, call your county extension office and chat with them. Some are better than others but many may have an incubator you can use. Or if you get one they may calibrate it for you. It can't hurt to call and tell them you are a teacher.

I use a 1588, a really old model. I understand about the shell getting stained and beat up. It took me two or three incubations to get it set up properly, the thermostat was off a bit. But once I got it calibrated it has been very reliable. That's my concern with you getting a new one. It may take a couple of hatches to get it set up right for good hatches.

I was going to recommend the extension office as well. A classroom here has a loaner.

I really like my Kebonnixs 12 egg, and I believe they are under 100$ on Amazon. Holds steady, dome, auto turner and shows temp/humidity. Only thing I don't like, the high pitch beep for buttons lol.

ETA: Ive used calibrated hygrometers/thermometers with mine, twice now, and the reading was same, even used a Govee Bluetooth one. I know it can be hit or miss with some systems

I also recommend the Kebbonix 12 incubator. It was $90 when I bought it at Christmas time. I would say put it at 100 degrees instead of 99.5 because it measures the temp from up above and not where the eggs are at.

It also is very nice because you can see everything going on inside!

P.S you do need to put a grippy mat in it for when the chicks are hatching though.
