Hi, kindly assist on the best materials to use when building a Chicken coop and which one can be warm for the birds. Wood or iron.

I believe wood is a more commonly use material for the structure of a dhixken coop than iron. And probably cheaper? The think you need to consider is not only will it be warm for the chicks in the winter, but rather will it have adequate ventilation for not only the hotter months but also year round. Having windows and vents is important as long as they’re covered with at least 1/2 or 1/4in hardware cloth to keep the chickens in but more importantly the critters OUT. If there is good ventilation in the coop, adequate shade and cool water then the chickens will be able to keep cool when it’s hot out. And for the colder month, make sure at least there is not a lot of drafts within e coop and the roosts are wide enough for them to perch on and fluff out their feathers to keep their feet and themselves warm. Chickens have a lot of natural insulation and there are breeds that are more cold and/or heat tolerant than other breeds. Plus they will cuddle together to help stay warm when needed. Where you are located and the weather there also comes into play on how you design your coop. If it’s something you had in mind or something you already had constructed, then perhaps post a pic of it so the others here who are more knowledgeable than I can offer advise too. Good luck.
