Best Mother's Day Gift

As part of my Mother's Day gift, my amazing kids and husband finished off all the work on the new coop that I was planning to do this week. They dug trenches, they unrolled hardware cloth, they stapled, painted and stained, hammered, and just generally worked their little butts off. Even the four-year old! We're all exhausted BUT the chicks are happy in their new giant home and off the dining room table.

The brooder is empty just in time for the next group hopefully growing like weeds in CPartist's incubator...

My hubby worked hard on the new coop today for me too

Our 5 "new daughters" will be able to go outside in about 2-3 weeks.

Lovely coop! My son built a chicken tractor for me for Mother's Day and delivered it last week. My new babies are being shipped tomorrow! Enjoy your chickens, I just can't wait for mine!

Great coop/run....Happy Mother's Day!

DH and I worked the last two days on the privacy fence that will be the back of the run.

We have a neighbor who throws loud parties every weekend...last weekend at 4am someone from his party jumped the curb of our neighbor across the street and hit one of the pecan trees, damaged it to the point it will have to be cut down. Am afraid to have my chickens where those at his parties can see them so we are replacing our chain link fence with a privacy fence. Don't want someone high on drugs/booze using my girls for target practice!

My husband built me a brand new 10 x 20 run. Six feet tall & completely covered, with wire buried 6 inches down & 2 feet out too.. And my youngest built me a new nursery/coop for the broodies that should start hatching off this week. sounds like everyone got what they wanted for Mother's Day this year.
