So Im thinking of buying some Hybrids which I have never owned before. My main reason for keeping chickens is mainly for their company(eggs are a bonus). I have only been a chicken owner for 3 months and my last bantam batch were very ill so I returned them. Im very excited as I found a good breeder but there is quite a variety of hybrid breeds to choose from. Does anyone have any idea of what breeds are the friendliest and least aggressive???

Some people call hybrids, other people call them barn yard mixes. lol Get a feather baby from a hatchery and its a 'hybrid'. Get that same chicken from a guy down the road with the same cross and its a barn yard bird. Always amused me. They're great fun though regardless of what you have. As you do, I only keep mine for pets. Eggs are a bonus like you said.

There are many terms that have various colloquial definitions within difference contexts.

'Hybird' can mean many things, but it is generally a cross of 2 animals of the same species. Reasons for the cross, and what the cross is, need to be known.
Like a 'hybrid' car means a vehicle with both a gas and an electric engine.

In the chicken egg layer world...
'Hybrids' usually refers to high production egg layers.
