Best place to sell hens?

I have 4 purebred delaware hens that I am not enjoying very much and would like to sell. I prefer my buff orpingtons and the delaware hens just aren't doing it for me! Where's the best place to sell chickens? They just reached 6 months of age and are very healthy. I think its the ideal time to sell them as they just started laying this month so have a nice long laying period ahead of them. Where do you sell your hens?

And while I am at it ... where is the best place to find adult female ducks? Craigslist ad?

Craigslist is where I sell most of my chickens, but I've also sold some by putting up flyers at my local feed store. BYC can be good place to sell them too, although it can sometimes be difficult if you don't ship birds. Best of luck to you!

^^^^ And I think it is a good decision, if you have a bird that is not working for you, or for your flock, let them go!

Call them "point of lay" pullets, and I think they will sell like hotcakes!

We used a livestock auction. We googled to see where one was, then researched their website and called to ask a few more questions. We ended up averaging $7 per bird (pullets and cockerels were sold). Easy for us to do.

We also sold some pullets that just were not doing it for us. Now we have room for what we like.
