So i have 5 ducks in total and I’m trying to find a pool for them. They are all becoming bigger and I feel bad when I see some of my big ducks trying to swim but can because of how small it is. It so small that only one of them fits in their and one has to get out when the other one wants in :(
I want to get one pool. If i do get a pool how will they get in and out of it? What do you use? I don’t want them just jumping in because that will be too much effort and even impossible for them to get in and jumping out will become a problem because it will probably injure them... I do live right by the lake that I take them too once a day. But i think it’s best if they have one that they have acces too during the day. I doesn’t have to be HUGE since I will still take them to te lake every day. But something big enough for them to be able to dip themselves. What do you guys have?

I'm interested to see the answers to your questions as well! We bought a kiddie pool and dug it into the ground when ours were tiny, but they've gotten so big so fast that now we're looking to upgrade!

Hello JNC, Welcome to BYC. Big is nice, but sometimes not practical depending on your available space. IMO, Find a pool big enough that you can manually handle for when it comes time to clean it. Ducks are very messy as you may have already noticed. Maybe two pools over one large pool might be more user friendly for you to keep clean? Please keep us posted and pics are awesome if you can post them. :)

Got this one off of Amazon for $30 and they have LOVED it for the past year! It’s deep enough for them to actually swim. I did put a concrete block in there to act as a step so they could get out easier. It does have a drain plug but I use a pump to get the water and nastiness out every couple of weeks and refill!

Hi! We have six silver Appleyards (large breed) ducks. They are three years old. Here is their story told through the lens of water!

When they were very little, they used a roasting pan (don't worry, the irony was not lost on us).

They then used a kiddie pool with a ramp to get in and some rocks in the pool to help them get out.

We built a proper pond, but they only would swim in the overflow on really rainy days...silly ducks!

We thought they might give the real pond a go....but no dice...

Then they found Duck Landing! A small intermittent drainage that has water much of the year and doesn't often freeze because of natural springs. They can't really "swim" in it, but it became their favorite spot.

We then dug them two little pools in another natural drainage that runs most of the year. The area is affectionately known as "the waterpark," and they love it!

They still have two small pools for when they are not free ranging. The use them regularly!

We improved the waterpark with a little more depth, and boy did they like that! lol

They still love Duck Landing (especially after a big rain!).

And even with all that water, when they hear the call for breakfast or dinner, they still come running!

LOVE this idea! Did you build those stairs? What is the pool called. I want to look more into it!

I bet they love it! :) Doesn't it get pretty nasty after a couple of days though?

Intex Mini Frame Pool

I bought pool on amazon last year for 31.99 and when I just looked it up they are $80 so I googled it and it looks like you can get it for $50 on eBay. Apparently it has been discontinued.

actually if you cover it, I used to cover it at night and uncover in the afternoons when I got home from work which gave them 4-5 hours access to it, it wasn’t that bad. I could usually get by with cleaning it every two weeks. uncovered and in direct sunlight everyday turns it green quickly. As far as duck poop it’s pretty much the same as any other pool!
