I just got home after a trip into town. And noticed my best marans roo has a broken leg! I don't know how he did it. I'm so worried!
I'm not sure if his leg just popped out of the joint or what but he can't walk on it and it just hangs there. He doesn't seem to be in pain but I'm not sure if it's broken or just popped ( it's in his thigh the bone that connect to his body). If anyone one has suggestion please help. I'm very worried about him!

You can splint a break lower down the leg, but I doubt you can do much with that one. You can try confining him so he will rest for a while and see how it comes out on his own. I assume a vet is not an option; of course that would be the approach most likely to be successful.

Maybe you could try and pinpoint the location of pain/tenderness. If his thigh is popped out of joint, you can try popping it back in. I would wonder how he could get a broken thigh if he was in his normal run. I could see a roo getting something dislocated though, by maybe getting it caught or pulled by someone else, etc. Try feeling up on his "hips" moving his legs to see if you can feel anything out of place. He could have also just sprained or strained a muscle and just needs time to recover. You can practice popping joints back into place on a dead chicken from the grocery store, if you feel the need. Also, feel your other chickens' hips for comparison, so you can get an idea of what it is supposed to feel like. Best of luck

I would try to pop it back in. I had two so far that broke its leg, one someone told me to put it down because it would never heal right and I made a brace for it and it walks fine you would never know it broke.

If you do pop it back, it will need to rest for awhile, cuz it will be sore.

Good luck!
