i just bought a craftsman 20gal air compressor and i'm trying to get everything hooked up. i used the supplied sealant tape, but the darn connectors to the hose still leaks, so im guessing this tape is junk. what is the best sealant for this type of application? thanks.

Try a plumbers compound without tephelon.
Good Luck!

Just going to throw it out there with no intention to insult!

Did you put the teflon tape on in the right direction?

Looking at the fitting straight on, it should go on clockwise, so as you thread the fittings together, they pull the tape into the threads. One layer of tape is suppose to be enough but I usually put 2 or 3 layers.

Teflon tape should work fine. Or get some gas line sealant. With Teflon tape hold the fitting in your left hand and wrap it over the top and away from you. Then under toward you. That is important.

yup, you are absolutely correct i was going counterclockwise and wrapped it once. so i did what you said, counterclockwise and two layers, viola! thanks a bunch!
