I need a good thermometer...I have so many inconsistencies with the ones I have and I think that is what is causing bad hatches.

Thanks

I have this one but there is a reptile one that is also a thermostat that looks good for about $20-30.

I have a few extra of the Watchport if you want one that I would make a good deal on.

The link that was posted takes me to a plug and play USB temp humidity sensor. Sounds cool except in the product specs it says the temperature accuracy is +\\- 3.6 degrees farenheit. That's a potential 7.2 degree swing. Way too much for incubation in my opinion. Cutler supply has one that says it is +\\- .2 degrees for around 20$. It does not measure humidity though. Sorry can't think of it's name. Just search for incubator thermometer

Depends what you want to spend. I have this one http://www.all-spec.com/products/445715.html for the bator and a wall mount one for the coop (it was DH...don't ask lol) I still needed to calibrate the hygrometer to get an accurate reading. Lots of people have the $7 walmart ones. I use one in my brooder and it works fine. (Had to calibrate that one too)

I've heard lots of good things about the brinsea spot check.

Wow. You are way off. Did you even read the specs before you posted. The fallowing is from their site "Temperature accuracy:
+/- 3.6° F (+/- 2° C) at -40° F to 14° F
(-40° C to -10° C) and +/- 0.9° F (+/- 0.5° C) at 14° F to 185° F (-10° C to 85° C)"

As you can see +/- 3.6 is at -40 to 14 & this isn't the same thing as swing. Swing is when you temp is going from one temp to another. This is just saying that the actual temp my be -20 but the reading might say -16.4 & that would be an extreme. However we will not be incubating any quail at 14 degrees but rather at <100> which the Watchport says it will be within .9 so if the reading is 100 then the temp is 99.1 to 100.9. Anywhere in this range would be acceptable.

I have not had a problem with these at all & for the "sounds cool" you are right on. It even emails me if the temp/humidity drops outside of my set limits. I have it sent to my blackberry & it will keep me updated if it corrects itself before I get there. A few expensive clutches lost would pay for this in no time.

The
price of a new one will hurt your feelings...... ~$250. I've got one, and it's as dependable as they come. Reads temp and humidity changes as it's happening, and what it reads is what your temp and humidity "IS"
