Ditto...hardware cloth for the openings on the coop that may stay open overnight with hardware cloth on the bottom part of the walls of the run and welded wire ( a little less expensive) for the top part of the walls. You may think you dont have raccoons, coyotes, possums etc in the city...but you probably do. I live in the city and have seen all three on my property more than once (as well as skunks, deer{not dangerous but cool} and hawks) not to mention wandering dogs that can go through regular chicken wire like it's water if they want to....and many REALLY want to. Everything likes to eat CHICKEN. Hardware cloth and welded wire cost a little more but it's worth it for peace of mind if nothing else...lasts longer too. Good Luck with your coop build.
well i think it will be cool have foxes and racoons roaming around! i would definately catch one and bring him in the house
but really, the only thing i have to worry about is the cats and my dog, chance! i think i am very lucky
hareware clothe and welded wire it is... i just hope that my local hardware store has it
or else i haev no choice but to just go
and use something eles...
By the way
I'm guessing from an earlier comment that you do not live in the US...where are you from?
Even if you do not have raccoons or coyotes (they are definitely not cool critters
)...dogs can be a big problem with chcikens and chicken wire will be not be much of barrier to a determined canine. I'm glad you are going for the stronger stuff. Post some pictures of your set up when you are done.
