Best water fount for winter?

I use horizontal nipples on a bucket with a submersible tank heater/bird bath deicer hooked up to a thermocube that turns it on when temps are 35F or lower and turns it of above 40F.

I live in upstate NY. Not quite as cold as you, but we get our fair share of below zero temps. Their water bucket is outside in the run year round and I haven't had it freeze yet.

My silkie taught 3 week olds about floored me when they ran up to drink love my horizontal do not get the others they tend to leak tank heaters work in themteach two birds they will teach the rest

As others mentioned, the horizontal nipples and submersible heater are the best! There are several heater options, from 80w and up to use whichever works best for your area. A thermocube also works well for controlling the heater- it only turns on when it's below freezing and helps save money
