Best way to calm when vent sexing?

Hey all!
It’s that time I’ve been dreading...sexing the quail. I’ve never done it before, but I researched how to do it, but what’s the best way to calm the quails down WHILE I do it? Cover the head? I don’t want them to get traumatized because just recently they’ve started allowing me to pick them up again.

Perhaps turn them upside down gently and briefly and then reward them. Then once they're used to being turned upside down for a short time, you can attempt vent sexing. I don't think quails hold grudges Also how old are they? I've found it to be unreliable when they're younger.

We bought four seven week old 'female' japs, tuxedos and whites. We vent sexed them and they were all 'girls'. Three crowed! It was a while after we bought them though so we are now stuck with more boys than we can find housing for.
