Best way to introduce... Welsummer to new sisters

I'm considering getting 3 started pullets-6 weeks as sisters/"babies" for her to train. She was Orphaned over 3 months when one sister had a heart attack and the other had a triple yolk egg on her first lay and pulled the uterine "cap" attached to the egg.

My Heritage Dutch Welsummer is even tempered and would make a perfect mom.

What do I need to know about integrating the same chicken breed, in with my current Welsummer. I do have 2 coops. Thank y'all for helping me

First thing to know is that she probably wouldn't be mothering them at that age even if they were her own so don't expect that kind of behavior. Integrate them as you would any chickens--use a see but no touch period of a couple weeks after a couple weeks of quarantine. I think some people do a longer quarantine but it also depends on where you're getting the pullets. Since you have two coops you can let the pullets sleep in the same one at night and let them mingle with the hen during the day once the no touch period is over.

Wonderful. That's a huge weight off me. I want to do this right, because after Chicken keeping since 2017, I've finally fallen for this breed! Full size hens are for me. Bantams were full but these girls are 😃
I love Welsummers too although I have zero chickens right now. I am plotting my next flock which will include welsummers and if all goes well a Welsummer rooster. they're just so handsome!

A Welsummer Rooster is on the Kellogg's Corn Flakes box. You'll have to name him Cornelius "Corny"! Send pics
