If Dodge and Chevy would get together and use the Cummins Diesel and the Allison Tranny it would be an awesome truck.
Dodge diesels tend to be loud, they also have tranny issues. CHevys have some engine issues.
I may be a "girl" but I definitely am more mechanical than hubby and I do small repairs to all of our vehicles.
I still say the engine is more important than what "make" it is. I would not get a ford with the 6.9 diesel, they have had several issues.
Any make vehicle can have "lemons" so just going with Ford, CHevy, Dodge or Toyota is not a way to pick them. CarFax is the best way to get a history on any vehicle.
As far as my experience with Ford, my air is frigid, heat is toasty and I have had only minor issues. I have about 387,000 on my 91 and it was used as a Car Hauler before I got it, I drove it 45 miles each way for over a year to work and any issues (other than a new tranny after a year of owning) have been minor. Maintenance is the most important thing in any vehicle.
