the day that little poppy was hatching, my neighbor came over with a baby california quail that her cat had caught. sadly, said neighbor held the baby for the whole day and momma is long gone. so neighbor brought baby quail (maybe a day or two old) to us. so it has actually worked out ok, because poppy was the only duck to hatch so far (Still holding out hope on the rest of the eggs though) they are the bestest of friends now, so sweet.
