My female beta has black appearing in her scales what is going on, and what can i do

Once a week and that’s not her usual tank it was a cup because I was cleaning. Her tank was overdue this week though

It’s not very big I need to upgrade
It’s around 2.5 gallons

That's pretty big actually, they live in puddles in the wild. I think it might just be her beard flaring. Keep an eye on her.
