Bi-colored Wyandotte chick??

Alright folks! A little less than a month later and I’m back with an update. I took his (her? I can’t tell with them yet... or maybe I’m in denial ‍♀️) pic again yesterday evening. I’ve noticed on the white tipped feathers, the gold in the body of the feather is MUCH paler than the gold on the feathers with no white. I contacted the seller to see if they had seen mottling in their line before, but they just buy the eggs from other people, hatch them, and sell them off, so no help there! She did try to tell me that all Wyandotte chicks do that as they feather out however I have noticed a distinct lack of this patterning in every other chick except three of my glw’s. I am certainly interested in what this guy in particular will look like when he’s older though!

That is beautiful! I was hoping to see an update with pictures soon!

Clearly Mottled, how it got there? at best a mottled wyandotte was introduced at some point in the breeding program, and at worst well any mottled breed may have been used
Well, due to the fact that I have several single combs instead of rose combs, I fear it may have been a different mottled breed... however given that they buy the eggs from outside sources, I may have genetics from several different flocks, so there’s really no way to know if the singles are randoms thrown from different pairs or a presentation of a different breed... I guess I just have to see how they turn out and see what the next generation looks like

On Wyandottes hatching single combs is really not an issue but a necessity for many breeders as homozygous rose comb rooster have very poor fertility and the fact that you can't tell the difference between heterozygous vs homozygous rose comb unless you are the breeder of such lines, in this case, single comb is really not a tale tale of cross-breeding per say

Oh wow, thanks for the info! I had no idea! I’m completely new to this breed and only know the relatively small amount of information I’ve been able to find to read on them.

This is exactly what my girl

I noticed the other day that my girl also had a thin gold line on the feathers with the white tips. I’ll try to get a new picture tomorrow.

Here are some updates pictures. I believe she is 4 weeks old now.
