I had a chick to pip sometime yesterday while we were at work. I read that a lot of people wait at least 24 hours before intervening, so I waited till noon today. I very carefully got a warm, moist rag, tweezers, and an eye dropper. I worked very careful. I found that part of it's face/eye was shrink wrapped so I put it back in the bator with the warm moist towel touching that area. I came back 30 minutes later and was able to get it loose very easy.
To make a long story a little shorter, it came out on it's own in the bator after I slightly cracked some of the egg to loosen it up for it when it was ready. BUT it's belly skin is very thin and it's lower abdomen is big and I can see yellow through it's skin. Is this the yolk that hasn't gotten finished or something else? There is no yellow on the outside of it's body. It is all inside.
Any ideas?

That's the absorbed yolk; it's normal. Congrats!

Oh good. Thanks for the info. I'm a RN and in the human world distended bellies usually don't make for a good day.

I have had a few like that. Some of them couldn't sit up or walk around cause their little belly's were so big.
After a few hours, sometimes more, they absorb the yolk and get balanced out.
