I picked up my 7 RI Reds last Saturday and have kept them in the coop since. They are now 8 1/2 weeks old
Tomorrow is the day I will finally let them go out to there rum.
When I get up, I will go out and open the door to the run.
I imagine it will take them a while to venture outside.
I am thinking tomorrow is the first day of the rest of there life.
They seem content being in there luxurious coop, but I think there are going to love being outside.

My birds took their time venturing out but when one makes the first step the others are sure to follow. Once they learned they could hardly wait for me to open their pop door in the mornings to let them out. During the day they would go in and out of their coop.

I looked out a little while ago and one was standing on the ramp.
I went out on the deck and said "lady's..come on out"
and she ran back in.

It's pretty big outside for the first time out! Once they start to peck and scratch, it'll be hard to get em back in! Enjoy it. Ours spend most of their day under the deck and thats good when it's as hot as it's been here.

This is the day....This is the day....that the chicks go play! That's the chicks go play.

They will rejoice and be glad in it

This is the day!

Good times are sure to follow.

A couple came out for a while, they scratched around and then went back in.
I have been around most of the day and they haven't ventured back out.
Today I also switched them to the bigger 5 gal waterer and the 30lb hanging feder.
They loved them both.
They seem to have fallen in lover with there lower roost, everytime I look they are all together on it.

Throw a little scratch out there in the run... That would be fun for them.
