What breed is he?View attachment 1475185 View attachment 1475189 View attachment 1475190 Last night my stepson went to the local auction. The night we don't go there are 3 Jakes. Lol just my luck. We recently lost our Tom to a coyote and our hen is lonely so we told him get us one. I really hate going to the auction because I want to rescue all the birds in poor cages and in poor condition. Well 2 of the Jakes were fantastic condition. You could tell the owners took care of them. The last one was "ugly" according to my son. Well long story short we ended up with the "ugly" one. I'm actually really glad. I was already asleep when he brought the little guy over. After a good assessment this morning he wasn't ugly he just needed a good home. So I welcomed him to big Mama's house. Lots of food and water and room to roam. Poor baby's feathers are in bad shape. I'm hoping with some tlc he'll shine. Here's some pictures of my newest rescue Giblet. His head is blurry bc he was ravenous.
Thanks. She is half bourbon red and half eastern wild turkey. She looks like neither though. I'll find a picture of her.Looks like he's molting. Just wait....you'll be surprised how gorgeous he'll be with new feathers. What variety is your hen?
I don't know what he is besides a pretty turkey. He definitely has some bronze in him though. What breed is he?
I still eat mine, but I want them to have a happy and healthy lifeI think he is beautiful. You sound like me wanting to rescue everything. So I take it I'm not the only one who thinks poultry (especially turkeys) mAke great pets![]()
