So I go out to check on the girls yesterday, and see the shade cover has blown off their tractor/coop. As I get closer, all but one hen is doing the usual FEED ME racket. One barred rock is laying on her side in the dust bowl, barely lifting her head to look at me (those stupid barred rocks don't trust me to allow me close) and kinda just twitches her legs and weakly mutters. OMG! what happened! Since I was barefoot, I race back to the house for boots and DH (who was thinking darn, he's gonna have to put one out of its misery and then bury it) We hurry back and...
WHAT? What? Who's sick? I'm opening the door and all the hens are nearly attacking me in their eagerness for treats. No sickly bird. Nope. DH just laughs. I poked my head in and got my teeth pecked for my worries. (Ewww) Apparently whichever hen it was playing sick was just sunning herself and couldn't be bothered.
Thank goodness. Stupid bird gave me such a scare. I just had to share this with people who would UNDERSTAND.
