Hi all!
I joined the forum last week after lurking for a while.
My story so far: checked with our local zoning & ordinance people about chickens and they gave us a go ahead, but warned me away from roosters.
Bought a few straight run EE chicks from a hatchery supplied store. They're currently hanging out in a heated aquarium while the family (meaning DH) works on a chicken tractor.
I must have scared zoning because they have begun work on livestock zoning ordinances.

One gentleman from the local government did say he was going to look around the internet for standards on city chickens, so if he happens to find this story

"hey, there, I don't want to cause trouble, but I don't mind making a pain of myself if I have to!"

Since we've just started our foray into chickens, I don't have much to tell. The goal is egg laying pets. We were steered towards the EE (I fear without proof that most are not of the egg laying persuasion) but I aim to have Black Copper Marans and I've heard lovely things about Orpingtons, Langshans and Sussex (Sussexes?) Obviously, I can't have all I want. And I know I have much more to learn. Which is why I finally registered here! Y'all seem like good people with tons of knowledge.

So:
Hello All! I'm glad to be here! I'm going to go back to lurking until I find something I can contribute to. Thanks for having me!
