Yes, we are new to raising chickens, but so far we are loving it. We have been having some health issues with a couple of chickens and we lost them. While we have been able to nurse a couple back to health, thanks to generous folks on this site, we have grown concerned that our biosecurity is not what it needs to be.

I am wondering if someone has published a paper on this site that lists biosecurity considerations, and if you can point me to it. I have been combing the forums with every search I can think of, but I have not yet nailed it. I would think this information would be critical to all us newbies, and should have a prominent position on the site.

I'm sure I'm just being blind, but I would appreciate a little direction.

Thanks to everyone, and hope to see you at West Coast ChickenStock this Saturday.

I was leary of this at first, because I dislike the government being in my business, but the USDA is offering a free DVD on biosecurity; keeping your flock healthy and recognizing infectious poultry diseases.
Last year I reluctantly ordered their biosecurity poultry calender, thinking they would want info. on my flock, but they didn't. They are just trying educate people.
You can get a free copy of the DVD by going to http://healthybirds.aphis.usda.gov

ETA: At their site, type 'DVD' into the search box to learn how to get your DVD
