birchen pekin - gold or silver base? (genetics)

today i was giving my black pekin cockerel his back rub when i discovered... he's not black! he's birchen!!!

so now my beautiful 6 week old boy is going to be birchen i was wondering does that mean he is gold based?(mother was black and father was birchen)

the reason why i ask is he has one little white spot and one little white stripe on his wing feathers so i assumed he was silver based but the new feathers coming in around his neck are a buff/gold colour, which i assume means he is gold based...

so which is it? anyone know?

are you asking what they look like? I'll post a pic of my birchen cochin banty cockerel. I had to get rid of him, but he was a pretty guy.
