bird died need ideas why

I am taking care of my father in laws birds and I check them 2-3 times a day and feed /water them. I checked them around 8pm last night all was well all had water. At 7:30 am today I found a phesant dead. She had blood in her mouth and was bloated up already. I haven't noticed anything with her she wasn't acting sick before she died. We did have bad storms last night. The birds are in a pen and is covered. Any ideas I am worried these birds are his money makers and I am worried about more dying!

I don't know anything about phesants...Sounds like it might have been an injury since it had blood coming out of the mouth. I guess no other signs of trama? Do the others all seem to be acting alright? My guess would be she was frightened durning the storms and somehow hurt herself, broken neck maybe? Sorry, not much help. Hope you get some better ideas.
