Bird feeder as chicken feeder?

Couldn't you potentially use a larger bird seed feeder, something like the one below, for a chicken feeder? Do people do this? Maybe it just doesn't hold enough feed? I only have 4 chickens and I am garage sale hopping, so wondering if I come across something like this, would it work?

As long as the feed comes out the bottom and the tray has enough room for the hens to peck at it then it should work fine.
