Bird Poop

Our chicken coop has gotten bird poop (more than usual) on the roof and on the tree next to it. Are other birds attracted to chickens? Also when they were little chicks birds were pooping on the patio outside the door where the chickens were kept. Is there a way to stop this? Thanks!

Wait... are you saying that other, non-chicken birds, are pooping on top of your coop and patio? I guess you could try the same things that are used to scare hawks away... blank CD's hung from fishing line. The flash and movement scare the birds.

Yes. They are other non chicken birds. They seem to like pooping near the chickens! That is a good idea!

I have also had success with cheap 99cent pinwheels or kites with tails keeping birds from my garden (in my pre-chicken days) no gardening for us now....

I was thinking of the pin-wheels but I couldn't think of what they were called. Last year, I shot Bottle Rockets at the hawks to scare them away. That seemed to work, but I am in a small town that doesn't seem to care about fireworks in the city limits.
