I have a hen that has a prolapse. It looks a million times better than it did weeks ago when we separated her but it will not stay in. We have done a ton of soaks..the whole 9 yards. We have had birds in the past that had prolapses and they were totally fine.

The problem that I am running into is that I have her isolated in a large tote. She has been in there for weeks. We did pick up a small coop but have to get a run around it and secured.

My question is, have you reintroduced your bird with a prolapse back to the flock?
She is eating, pooping, laying eggs and lively! Other than her innards slightly hanging out she's loving life.

If you have a rooster, he may try and mate with her and it could rupture something.

The other hens may also become curious of what is sticking out of her and start pecking on her, definitely since she has been out of the coop for a long time.

Her innards hanging out would be easily ruptured. What have you done to push it back in?

You should keep her on chick feed or something with lower calcium to keep her from producing eggs. Pushing those eggs out might be the cause of her innards not staying in.

We have soaked her and then used a gloved finger to slowly push it back in. This was the same as I've done for other birds and had great success. This one will stay in..then come back out overnight.

I was feeding her just scratch feed and veggies. She hasn't laid in a few days now.

Yesterday Ruby prolapsed 😢 truly horrible.i did all I could but it just kept coming out again. I knew I couldn’t put her in with the others coz they’d likely peck it and that would be the start of the end. The alternative is keeping her apart and that wouldn’t be either fair or practical.
So, I had to call upon a friend to do what was necessary.
So sad 😞
Rest in peace my beautiful golden girl ❤️
