birds that do not destroy the flower garden

I think I will just see if I can get my parents to let me build a bigger aviary and get a pheasant that does not eat that many plants

I am pretty set on keeping pheasants, and it might be difficult to keep quail with them because they will compete for the same area on the ground

We laid down chicken wire and staked it with U-shaped heavy wires, driven down with a big mallet. That stopped the scratching. You can actually plant flowers right thru it.

The heat in NM is not suited for sultans
Just as well. Despite the reputation for being easy on lawns and gardens, my experience is that Sultans should be classified as rototillers.

Careful fencing will probably allow you to put any bird in your garden, though restricted, of course. Deep-rooted plants can stand more scratching than shallow-rooted plants.

I found this video a while back on YouTube, and it has been my gardening inspiration!
