Birth defect? Infection? Slipped joint?

(small edit to my post mentioning you, as I had misspelled your screen name,...:)

And, I'm with you on the antibiotics. I personally believe we reach for these chemicals too soon, as some kind of fix all. Any antibiotics will affect the delicate microbial balance in the gut and you can get other issues from that! If ever there was an oral antibiotic that helps most things, helps the body heal, helps maintain overall health, it's Manuka honey. It's a natural antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, and great gut stabilizer. I liquify this and then syringe feed. I use this rather than sugar when I make homemade Pedialyte. I personally eat this every day for "medicinal" purposes. I could write a book on how many lives Manuka honey has saved for me, including cancer! https://wedderspoon.com/collections/manuka-honey/products/raw-manuka-honey-kfactor-16

@redinator and I have had sidebar discussions to try and help your little peep. If you do not want to soak the leg in an epsom salt bath, I would do the following:

Apply warm epsom salt compresses to the elbow joint, pat dry, apply Manuka honey (my preference), or try the silver honey (I'm not familiar with this product, but you mentioned you have this on hand), carefully wrap the joint with a nonstick bandage (not too tight, enough to keep it on while still allowing movement). I would do this twice a day now and see if this will loosen/soften the yellowish cap on the joint. My experience with this in the past is that the honey will work on the area to loosen to where you can literally peel it off. Keep the peep in a quiet, comfortable little area where she can rest and heal, and if she has a little friend or calm flock peep, put that peep with her.

I honestly would not mess with antibiotics at this point. Whatever is ailing the little peep looks like it's localized right at the elbow joint, no redness or swelling beyond this point. Does it feel warm to the touch, I forgot if you mentioned this previously...

Good luck and keep us posted!

So sorry to hear! I'm not sure what to further advise you. Perhaps the silver honey will work, or if you have raw honey, like Manuka. I've personally not use colloidal products, but great success treating infections and wounds with Manuka honey, even tumors. As @redinator advised, I would post to https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/emergencies-diseases-injuries-and-cures.10/. I would also search on this site. It's such a vast resource, surely someone else has dealt with similar if not exactly the same. Wishing you all the best with you sweet little one. ❤️

Please don't start multiple threads. This thread is already 2 pages of posts. It's simply not necessary and can be confusing to the OP as well as others having to hunt for whatever has been posted.

Tags and alerts have already been sent out. When folks have the time or inclination to respond I'm sure they will.

Thanks!

I saw that, good thinking! Is there a way you can change the thread name/title for more Oompf, to give an idea of the emergency in play?
Here....

The OP already made another thread. An Educator assisted them.
You can follow that in the link below.
