So our 1 year mark of getting our hens and duck is coming up and I wanted to make them something special to eat! They get kale and oats on the regular. Same with cucumber and pumpkin but I wanted to get a little unique and make them a mixture of something they haven’t had before. What are all the treats you all give your chickens? Any suggestions?

Yes I’m slightly crazy for wanting to throw my birds a birthday meal but that’s fine right?

You could find a recipe for bird bread online. Never personally used one, but bird bread is a hit with my friend's flock. Here's a link to a good site:

OMG! I just thought of the best idea. MEALWORM CAKE! mold wet chicken feed into a cake shape and fill it with live mealworms! When you take it to them sing happy birthday and carefully put the cake on the ground and they will go crazy for it.

Have you tried giving them yoghurt? I feed mine that on special days and they go crazy for it. I add some fruit beetle larvae too; very nourishing--- Give it a shot and come back to share your exerience here.. Cheers!

Personally, I’d make the humans the cake/treat for a job well done raising healthy chickens. Celebrate 1 year of successful work and learning!
