I have some 2-1/2 week old marans chicks that I am trying to determine gender on! I know it's a bit early, but I can't keep them all, and I don't want to get rid of hens and keep roosters
. Hatched from eggs bought from a friend who has black and blue copper marans penned together. The two darker ones have some copper showing up in their wing feathers, but one has feathered much more quickly than the other, so I'm a little confused as to what that means. Looking for input! (and please excuse the "background"... they are in my laundry room lol). Thanks
chick 1
chick 2
Chick 3
I also have Chick 4, who is in the pen with a surrogate mama... I gave her one egg to try to break her broody spell, so I don't have as good a pic of it, but it is smaller, less feathered and solid black/white.
