This is like my 5th time posting on here today but.....
last week I noticed that one of the chickens had been pooping black, and today while I was collecting eggs I saw that it was one of my white leghorns. I put wood ash out for them to dust bathe in, and there were a few small lumps of coal in it, could that be turning her poop black? For the next couple of minutes I watched her, and she was acting normal, but then she pooped again, and this time it was runnyish, and greenish black. She free ranged a couple of days ago, with some of her buddies and so far she is the only pooping like that.( I’m setting up a new free range system, so she was one of my test subjects :) )
Here are some pics

You're correct. The wood ash/coal caused the feces to darken. The poop in the photo looks normal. As long as they are eating, drinking, and acting like a chicken should...I wouldnt worry about it.
Great! That would not be the first time they have accidentally eaten something that tuned their poop an odd color. The got into the compost pile once, where I had just dumped a bunch of beets. That was a trumatic experience.
