Black australorp hens

I ran across someone selling some 10 month old black australorp hens that are already laying.

They want $20 each for them. Is that too high??

thats definately high. but i guess it also depends on where your located. around here hens go for $8 - $12

Depends where you live. They are first year layers, so $20 is reasonable here and that is also what I sell my first year layers for.

Depends on quality. Show birds were selling 40-50 and chicks for 20 when they win shows.

I have Black Australorps hens for sale in Russellville, KY for $15 and they are in their first year.

Well Im in NE Indiana, so KY is a bit of a drive for me....

I hear they are awesome layers and very quiet and friendly.

20 bucks is a bit high, but if they are healthy and the seller will ensure you that they are laying in the fist couple weeks, I would say get a few and try em.

I have seen point of lay Buff Orps listed around here for up to $30, but I live in a metropolis and they are harder to come by around here.
