Hey all! New to posting on this site. I have a 3 mo. Jumbo Coturnix female and recently noticed black coming in on legs. Just wanted to see if this is normal? She's on wire constantly. Normal eating, lays normal eggs daily. Black doesn't seem to be dirt, doesn't rinse off when she goes in her "pool". But it could be? Just want to make sure all is good?

I was wondering because if it was dried dirt that would explain it. I would definitely offer them some sand to dustbathe in - it's one of their most favorite things and good for their skin/feathers :)

Can mix in some finch seed mix to keep them busy and even their grit and crushed oyster shell for calcium. The sand bath will be one of their favorite spots and they may lay and sleep there too.

I sift my sand every few days which removes the big wood shavings/poop and then it's a sand bath party for an hour or two xD

I gave her a dust bath and she loves it. LOVES IT! It could be from dirt, we have a very dusty yard. But she's a happy hen flopping in the sand too. Thank you!
