Black copper maran roo or hen

I have a black copper maran that was such to be a pullet but looks like it might be a roo, it is two months

Well, I'm not seeing any saddle feathers yet, but... that's an awfully red comb and wattles for two months old. I would have to say yes, you have a young cockerel in your presence.

At 2 months old you have a cockerel. Male saddle feathers start around 12 weeks so would not show up yet.

I heard that copper maran roos will have copper in their saddle feathers and this one is starting get copper in that area and in the wings

look just like mine coming up with the red around the neck it is a cockerel

You have a very handsome cockerel. It is frustrating though when your “hen” turns out to be a roo.

Copper on the neck is expected of both male and female (black copper marans) but only Roos get copper in the wings and saddle. Handsome boy
