Thanks, He is beautiful.
I have been looking for a roo and came across an ad on craigslist for Black copper maran roos
But i didn't know what they looked like.
Thanks for the pic.
Make sure it has as close to five points on its comb as possible, pumpkin orange eyes or darker, a level back, hackles that don't fade to yellow at the bottom of the neckline, a feeling of substance when you pick it up, and a tail that does not aim back up over the back before it curves away from the body. Make sure the legs are pink with black shading, not yellow, feathers should extend down the outside of the leg, and the outer toe, White feathers are a fault but are common in several lines. Look at the outer toe and see that it is not stumpy and turned in looking. The breast should not be scallopped all over with copper, just a few scattered copper feathers here and there is ideal. Look at the feathers over his ear holes, make sure they are copper color and not black. Hope this helps.
The first & third cockerels are not correct, too light (gold) in the neck hackles.
The first & second have tail angles that are too high.
The second has the best comb and overall is the best bird shown.
