Black Copper Marans 6 weeks

Hi there, my chicks are 6 weeks old now. I got some more photos today. I will need to get more of one of them who seems to be far more camera shy! Any clues yet as to gender please?

Chick one I'd say pullet, need a photo of chick two's face but I'd say pullet too judging from it's comb

I just realised that I had labelled the very first pic as chick#1, when it is actually #2. Muppet that I am.

I am very much hoping for pullets. I do need a cockerel but want to make sure that I get an unrelated one to the rest of the birds.

Both pullets. Marans become obvious VERY early. My BCMs were obvious at 4 weeks. The cockrels already had huge pink combs by that age

Well, I am really hoping that you are both correct. They are very friendly birds and it would be great if they are girls.

I have some more Marans chicks that were from blue copper parents, but they are only 2 weeks old. It looks like I have a splash and 3 blues (all different shades by the look of them). I am enjoying watching them change day by day.

I also have another little (allegedly) BCM hatched at the same time from an egg from a different source. Time will tell if it really is a BCM. In another lot of eggs from yet another seller, I got 2 Welsummers - they were supposed to be BCMs but the seller says that there was a mix up. I am hoping that I can get some more eggs from him though, he seems genuine.

I am going with pullet at this age, BCM cockerels comb really early, you can usually tell by 5 weeks.
Wattles would also be much bigger by now if this was a cockerel.

Thank you. I thought for sure it was a cockerel from hatch and I have no idea why. lol I was so disappointed but then started to get hopeful this last week or two.
