Which of the two breeds specified lay darker eggs?

Also, I read that if you cross Black Copper Marans with Ameraucanas, you get Olive Eggers. Would it also work with Cuckoo Marans x Ameraucanas?

Also, I think they seriously mean "Ameraucanas", not EE's or something.

Who is 'they'?
Any blue laying female covered by a dark brown laying breed male can produce an 'olive egger'. How dark that olive will be depends on the sires line. A blue laying EE may not always pass on her blue egg genes tho.

Depends on the 'line' of the birds as to how dark they will lay. Brown coating genetics are complex. I've seen some Sexlinks that lay darker than some Marans.

I've crossed my Welsummer cock over several blue laying EE's, got some nice olives and also greens and plenty of browns from the female offspring. Next year I will try a Marans cockbird over Crested Cream Legbars an EE's

@aart So true about breeding lines...I had a Cuckoo Marans that laid a consistent 7 on the Marans color chart. Her sister laid a good 6. I didn't expect those CMs to lay that dark!
