Black EE?

Hi! This is Lucy. She's my fattest pullet. Does she look like she could be a black EE? Would a BSL have muffs and a beard? I have one of her sisters also and she looks the same except she doesn't have muffs/beard. They are 17.5 weeks old. I'm hoping they will start laying soon.

That single comb also means that it won't be very likely that they will lay blue or green eggs.


Ok by me! I have another pullet (RSL mutt) that just started laying beautiful bright green eggs very unexpectedly. I'm hoping one of the others will lay brown, so we will have a colorful egg basket. Does the single comb/brown egg, pea comb/blue/green egg trait always hold true?
 
It's not 100%, but it is rare for a single combed Easter Egger to lay colored eggs. It's one of those things where you shouldn't expect it, but be happily surprised if yours turns out to be one of the very few exceptions to the rule.
