Black Jersey Giant or Not???

Somebody sold me this rooster and said it was a black Jersey Giant, as I am new to Jersey Giants does this appear to be one or if not what does it look like. All opinions would be appreciated.

He may have some Jersey Giant in him, but he isn't pure. Unless somewhere way down the line there was a cross and a few generations later your seeing a roo without enough melanizers, creating all that leakage you see in his hackles. I had a roo very similar to that, but for my life I can't remember what the cross was...

I don't think so. My jersey giant is solid black and much bigger. He's very pretty.

I have a mixed black giant rooster that could pass as a twin to yours. I also have one that is pure. He is solid black with a green sheen. No gold or yellow. He's a beautiful rooster though.

Don't feel so bad. The same thing happened to me. The guy I bought mine from led me to believe that the ones I bought from him were pure as well.

I know that one is not and I'm sure that the others are not either. I still love them though.
