I have 4, 16 week old black Orpington. They are my favorite so far because they are not only gorgeous, but very docile birds.
I have one that has developed comb and wattles much faster than the other girls, so I've been wondering about him/her.
Yesterday, he/she got spooked and ran to the middle of the yard and didn't crow, but started singing the "egg song". Oddly, all the other chickens ran out to the yard after it, including my three adult laying hens (who are usually in charge.)
The egg song threw me off, but that all the other birds followed its orders, made me think he is a roo?
Opinions?
