Black pepper....???

Doing a little research on trying to find hidden nests when I came about this website

I was wondering if anyone has tried this "pepper" method and whether it is recommended or even safe to try..

I know I have a few more girls than just two laying (combs and wattles definitely tell the story!) but only find two eggs daily and a whole lot of woods surrounding my home..
