Black poop?? *yucky pic*

What could be wrong with this hen?! I've had chickens since August. So I'm a newbie. Unfortunately, I'm starting to learn about the down side of raising chickens..

It looks like she has other discharge going on as well. The first thing I would do is check her crop. If it's full and squishy or hard then she may have a problem with her crop. This will give you some information

Beyond that, can you give us some more information?
What are you feeding? Some foods can cause colored stools. Treats? Supplements? Water additives?
Any recent changes in diet?

Does she have any other symptoms? moving slow? puffed up? not eating? stinky breath or hind end? crop not emptying over night? Is she thin?-- feel her keel bone. Is she laying eggs? Any breathing difficulties? watery eyes? sneezing? Activity level?

I know this is old but I noticed black pudding-like poop in our run this afternoon. Just a couple of piles. Can’t tell who it’s coming from and everyone is acting normally.

Are you feeding black oil sunflower seeds? I have read they can cause black poops.
