Locked the crew up a little after sun set last nightt, walked over to check the bees bearding on the front of the hive because of the heat, turned toward the house and almost stepped on a 3 1/2 ' Black Racer that I took as just another surface root. Zipped off towards the run and coop area. Young hens starting to lay those little bullets so I guess I'll be losing a few. Not interested in killing it, maybe the Birds will take care of it and have a go at tug of war over the morsel .:pop Too quick for me to pursue.

3 1/2' long? Chickens are not going to touch that snake.
Predator eating my eggs is the same as eating my chickens in my book, and they get eliminated.
