Hello. My family and I are new to raising chickens and are starting a small flock for eggs and as companions. We asked for 2 ISA Browns and 2 Australorps but think we received Black Sex Link chickens instead of the Australorps. I'm guessing Black Sex Link because that was one of the others available at Tractor Supply when we went. Opinions on what kind of chickens these are? Also, if they are Black Sex Link chickens, are they cockarel? I was reading that only males will have the barring. I'm concerned about potentially having two males in my small flock of 4. I'm kicking myself for not getting 4 ISA Browns so I could be sure all would be hens.

The second one is a boy, im not sure on the second. they could be barred rock. Most tsc get their chicks from hoovers, who is well known for sending the wrong paper work with chicks.
Thanks. I figured what Tractor Supply told me may not be reliable....especially after I asked for Australorps and was given these. The image they have on the BSL chicks at Tractor Supply seems to show Barred Rock as both the hen and the roo are barred...but who knows. I guess I'll start the rehoming process for both of these guys as I definitely can't have 2 males.

Sure do. With a carefully monitored heat source and a screened top for ventilation. I researched prior to using this and saw that it was a viable option while they are small.
