Black sex-linked & Barred Rock cross

I have a source for chicks from black sex-link hens & barred rock rooster -- am I right that I can't tell the chick's sex because they are a hybrid? Other than not being able to sex the chicks, this seems like a good cross to me -- any thoughts?

You are correct that the chicks from that cross will not create a sexlink. Just mixed breed chickens. I think that cross will create fine chickens.

All the chicks will be barred, and you won't be able to tell the males from the females by color like with pure barred rocks where the males are lighter than the females, they'll all be darker colored. You should be able to sex them around 6ish weeks by comb/leg thickness. They should be fine layers.
