My dad crossed his RIR roo with some Barred Rock hens to get a hatch of the black sexlink chicks. Everything went well, but one of the chicks that was supposedly a roo sure looks like a really pretty little barred pullet. Darker that the other roos, shorter tail, small comb, the whole works. If I didn't know these were sexlinks i would fully think it was a barred pullet. So, what I want to know is how accurate is this sexlink thing. could this actually be a pullet, or maybe a feminine roo.

I've done this many times. The males will have a white spot on the top of their heads. The females will be solid black. When fully feathered,The males will look similiar to a Barred rock, except with a few brownish red feathers. The pullets will be black with brownish red feathers on their necks and breasts. They lay large brown eggs and are very prolific layers.
